Requirements For ILR As A Global Talent Migrant
An applicant applying for ILR as a Global Talent migrant must meet all the relevant requirements as set out in Appendix Global Talent of the Immigration Rules:
- Valid application: An applicant applying for ILR as a Global Talent migrant must submit a valid application in accordance with requirements for a valid application as set out in Appendix Global Talent of the Immigration Rules;
- Applicant in the UK: The applicant must be in the UK at the time of ILR application;
- Endorsement or prize not withdrawn or suspended: The applicant’s endorsement or prize must not have been withdrawn or suspended;
- Permission on the Global Talent route: The applicant must have, or have last been granted, permission on the Global Talent route;
- Earned money in the UK: The applicant must have earned money in the UK during their last period of permission in the field in either:
- a field related to the subject matter of their prize if they were granted for their initial application using a prize listed in Appendix Global Talent: Prestigious Prizes; or
- the field in which they were previously endorsed in the Global Talent route if they were granted their initial application using an endorsement.
- Qualifying period requirement: The applicant must have completed the qualifying period requirement of 3 years or 5 years, as applicable;
- Continuous residence requirement: The applicant must meet the continuous residence requirement as specified in Appendix Continuous Residence;
- English language requirement: Unless an exemption applies, the applicant must show English language ability on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in speaking and listening to at least level B1. The applicant must show they meet the English language requirement as specified in Appendix English Language;
- Knowledge of Life in the UK requirement: The applicant must meet the Knowledge of Life in the UK requirement as set out in Appendix KOL UK;
- Suitability requirement: The applicant must not fall for refusal under Part 9: grounds for refusal;
- Not in breach of immigration laws: If applying for permission to stay the applicant must not be:
- in breach of immigration laws, except that where paragraph 39E applies, that period of overstaying will be disregarded; or
- on immigration bail.

Qualifying Period Requirement For ILR As A Global Talent Migrant
The applicant must have spent a continuous period of 3 years in the UK if:
- they were endorsed by the Royal Society, British Academy, Royal Academy of Engineering or UKRI; or
- they were endorsed under the exceptional talent criteria by Arts Council England or Tech Nation; or
- they were granted their initial application using a prize listed in Appendix Global Talent: Prestigious Prizes.
The applicant must have spent a continuous period of 5 years in the UK if they were endorsed under the exceptional promise criteria by Arts Council England or Tech Nation.
The continuous period must consist of time with permission on any of (or any combination of), the following routes:
- Global Talent; or
- Innovator; or
- Skilled Worker; or
- T2 Minister of Religion; or
- T2 Sportsperson; or
- Tier 1 Migrant, other than Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur); or
- Scale-up.
